Undang-Undang Sultan Adam (Analisis Makna dengan Pendekatan Hermeneutik)

Undang-Undang Sultan Adam (UUSA – The Laws of Sultan Adam) is a set of laws issued in the era of Sultan Adam, a “sultan” (king) of the Banjarese Kingdom in 1825-1857. As a text of classical literature, the UUSA has specific meanings, most of which have only been used in the era of the Banjarese Kingdom. It was written on Thursday, the 15th of Muharam 1251, at nine o’clock. This research is an effort to describe meanings in the UUSA. Hermeneutic is the approach used in the effort to learn about the background and meanings in the UUSA. The result of this research can be concluded as follows: First, the establishment of UUSA was the result of the quarrel between two school of thought, namely: mazhab ahlusunah waljamaah and ahlal albidaah. The ahlusunah waljamaah confessed that it practiced the order of samaniyah while the ahlal albidaah was accused of applying the wahdatul wujud. Second, the overall meanings of the UUSA are: (1) UUSA describes that The Banjarese Kingdom was a theocrative kingdom, (2) as a theocrative kingdom, religious figures or religious organizations have very important roles in governing the kingdom, (3) according to UUSA, the officially recognized religious organization is the Safii under the Ahlusunah wal Jamaah and practiced the order of samaniyah, (4) UUSA was organized based on the thoughts of Haji Djamaloedin, a religious figure of the Banjarese Kingdom, (5) UUSA is aimed at perfecting the religion and determination, upon which the judges in court make decision, and as a counter to the other religious organization which flourished at that time.
