Political Thoughts: Leaders and Leadership in Shahnon Ahamad Novel

This article examines the political thinking of leader and leadership in Shahnon Ahmad’s novels such as Shit and Patriarch. This study is based on the attitude of political leaders which is portrayed in the works of the author in relation to his own experience in the local’s political sphere. This article also seeks to observe onto what extend the politics is flawed due to the leaders’ attitude since most of the author’s works have highlighted political problems he had experienced himself by displaying the problems through the work of literature. The focus of this study is to identify and to analyse the political thinking of the leaders and their leadership in Shahnon Ahmad’s novels. The methods involved are library research and content analysis, and through the application of Keywords-conceptual Theory to strengthen the points put forth. The result shows the presence of political thinking in Shahnon Ahmad’s novels; political thinking about leaders and leadership that illustrated the leaders’ negative attitudes in performing their official duties. The summary from this study reveals that both Shahnon Ahmad’s novels contain political thinking of leaders and leadership based on the analysis of the key words-conceptual theory
