Abstract :
The researchers conducted this study to determine the relation between extralinguistic factors of Malay language as a second language and the achievement of Malay language among foreign students at five universities in Malaysia. Researchers interested in analyzing the personality of colour as an influencing factor of extralinguistic learning in a second language among foreign students at universities in Malaysia. The result shows that foreign student’s personality is influenced by the colours of green, red and yellow. This indicating students are willing to do anything to succeed and dominate the second language learned. The study sample consisted of 150 students from 27 countries. They took the Malay language as a foreign language at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM),Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
