Abstract :
This paper examines the use of individual differences as a basis of adaptation in web-based learning environment. In particular it focuses on the use of learning styles (LS) among many factors that influence learning because it emphasizes the fact individuals perceive and process information in very different ways A proposed adaptation algorithm, which is able to select the learning objects that best fit the student s learning styles to obtain flexible delivery of the course material and to find a way to achieve a higher learning outcome, and reduce workload Three main system s components are proposed, the domain model or learning object repository, the student s model and finally the adaptation model Experimental results has been explored with sixty tow undergraduate students taking a lesson for information technology to emphasize that the model presented can provide different educational learning path with different educational materials according to the different learners characteristics, in addition to the ability to help the instructional designer to know which learning objects are less frequently used, which are more commonly used and which are not of benefit to the students nature. It also has the ability to spot on which attributes should he taken into consideration while creating new learning objects.
