Abstract :
In this paper, based on measurements of hemispherical total emissivity by calorimetric method at very low pressure from cooling rate of different specimens with different emissivities , and gathering experimental information about cooling rate at atmospheric to 3 x 10-5 torr pressures , a relatively simple technique with accessible equipment is proposedfor measuring the hemispherical total emissivity ofplane solid surfaces in the range 0.05 to 0.98 at temperatures below 1oooe with reasonable accuracy.
