  • Abstract
    Laserforming is a non contact andflexible forming process forsheet metals. In order to identify bending angle it is necessary tostudy temperature field in work specimen. This paper describesthe detailed derivation of the exact analytical solution formoving Gaussian distributed heat source in finite plate. Thisexact solution can be usedfor laser forming simulation to findthe dimensions ofa plastic zone. The dimensions ofthis zone areused to find the bending angle in the mechanical modelpresented in this paper by implementing triangular form in theplastic zone analysis. Theoretical estimated bending angles arecompared with experimental results. And show they are inagreement. Extensive experimentation, including a design ofexperiments, is performed to identify the effects of processparameters such as material parameter, laser power, beamdiameter, scan velocity, sheet thickness, pass number and pulseduration in terms ofbending anglefor square sheet metal part.
