Abstract :
El Aïoun region, located in the Oujda-Taourirt corridor (North-eastern Morocco), experienced a significantincrease in the agriculture activity. Consequently to the increased demand of water resources in this region, themain aim of the present work is to choose the best sites for reconnaissance borings or test wells that will precedethe future exploitation of the aquifer system. Thus, a total of 69 geophysical vertical electrical soundings (AB =600) was realized. The analysis of all results shows that the surveyed area is characterized by two geoelectricalpotential aquifers levels corresponding respectively to the Neogene lacustring limestone and the Jurassicsandstone and carbonates. From a structural point of view, the analysis of the apparent resistivity maps revealedtwo fault networks 30-70°N and 0-120°N witch subdivide the El Aïoun plain into sub-basins bounded by paleoupliftcorresponding to Jurassic terrains. Furthermore, the correlation of the geoelectrical sections alloweddetermining the geometry of the Miocene aquifer witch is the most sought in the plain of El Aïoun.
