Abstract :
The status of Blue Swimming Crab in Sarawak coastal water was investigated. The Catch per Unit Effort (CPUE) from the study site peaked in three months- May, July and October. The percentages of the male crabs were greater than those of the female crabs in all months except August. The study suggested that the shore marine embayment with less sandy seabed is not suitable for the larger crabs. The gill net mainly targets the larger crabs which caused the lower CPUE. The abundant sea grass beds contributed to the high percentage of the berried female. The abundant sand bank has also contributed to high percentage of male crabs found at the study site.
