Abstract :
Semiconductor nanocrystallites exhibit size dependent properties due to quantum confinement effect that are not present in their bulk counterparts. In this work, high-purity of extremely small powders of SnO2 nanocrystallites with crystallite sizes ~1.1 have been synthesized by a solution process, in which amorphous precipitate of Sn+4 is crystallized with microwave heating. The particles size varied from ~1.1 to 2.7 nm. Based on XRD analyses, the particle size, crystal structure and parity of samples are realized. UV-Vis measurement showed that, for SnO2 nanocrystallites, excitonic peaks are obtained ~237, 250 and 279 nm corresponding to ~1.1, 2 and 2.7 nm sizes respectively. STM analyses showed that, the nanocrystallites are highly monodisperse of spherical shape.
