Abstract :
A series of highly functionalized 1-(2 ,4 -dihydroxy-5 -substituted phenyl)-3-thienyl- propane-1,3-diones 3a-g have been produced upon Baker-Venkataraman rearrangement of 4- hydroxy-5-substituted-2-thienoyloxyacetophenones 2a-g using dimethylsulphoxide in NaOH. All the synthesized motifs 3a-g were confirmed by the spectroscopic analyses and evaluated for antibacterial efficacy against different pathogens.
