Abstract :
The building industry uses many approaches to assess the performance of buildings but most of these efforts still work through an absence of the real quantitative indicators. This disparity makes it difficult to understand the real performance of buildings and to transfer knowledge from one activity to another. Metrics are useful for evaluating design and design programs. The paper aims to establish a sequential methodology that applies the concept of measuring sustainability in a practical and broadly accepted way, and communicating the result to decisionmakers. In order to draw this full image, the thesis establishes quantitative indicators for assessing progress toward sustainability. In turn, the main role of this methodology is to initiate discussion, and engage participants through the concept of the integrated team approach which will deal with the building as an integrated system.
