Abstract :
Physio-chemical and biological data were collected on 11/10/2006 from a series of sites within the catchment area of the River Plym and its tributaries. Results suggest water quality within the catchment area is of high standards, with the water quality at Tory Brook notably improved compared to a previous study. High levels of nitrate and nitrite (626 mg/l) were found at Trowlesworthy and the minimum concentration of nitrate and nitrite were found to be (122 mg/l) at site 4. Levels of BOD measured were below the detection limit. The physio-chemical data were thought to be more reliable than the biological data due to the methodology implemented in this study.
