Abstract :
The present paper deals with the spectral and x-ray studies of the Co(I1) and Cu (II)complexes with chloramphenicol. On the basis of elemental analysis and molar conductance,formulas Co(CIIHI2CI2N205)W04·3H20 and Cu(CIIHI2CI2N205)W04·3H20 havebeen suggested for the complexes under study. The geometries of the complexes have been proposed on the basis of magnetic moment, electron, and infrared spectral data. TGAstudieshave also been carried out to determine the pattern of their decomposition. The crystalsystem, lattice parameters, unit cell volume, and number of molecules in these complexes have been determined by x-ray diffraction data. The aim of the investigation is to study coordination behavior of Co and Cu in the presence of W04 anion.
