Abstract :
The paper deals with the design of linear gutideway of computer numerical control (CNC) vertical machining center toere to gain in high precision. The CNC machines can get higher efficiency by using linear guideway. For purpose of high-speed and precise positioning, it is necessary to fully understand the mechanical characteristics of the driving mechanism. The lower frictional force and higher performance than traditional slide rail, ball-type linear guidezuay is now widely applied as a driving mechanism for the CNC machine. One set of linear guideway are designed and calculated with facility for the driving mechanism of X axis for vertical machining center. The strength, rigidity, nominal life and service life of linear guideloay are necessarily needed to consider the design calculation of theseparts. The primary function of linear guideway is to move the table of the machine with higher accuracy and efficiency. The balls of the slide are designed to a contact of 458 which enables to bear an equal load in radial, reversed radial and lateral directions.
