Abstract :
The Inebolu Harbor is in the center of Inebolu, a county affiliated to Kastamonu Province in the West Black Sea Section of the Black Sea Region. This harbor as a hinterland covers the West Black Sea Region and the central sections of the Middle Anatolia Region where Ankara is also situated. This harbor, which is a portal of Anatolia to the Black Sea, and to international marine commerce routes, has had significance strategically throughout history. In the years of the Turkish War of Independence, the Ġnebolu Harbor was the window of the Ankara Government opening to the outer world and most of the civil and military equipment obtained from Bulgaria, Romania and Russia to the Ankara Government entered the country through this harbor. Therefore, the Ġnebolu Harbor undertook a great role in winning the Turkish War of Independence. The Ġnebolu Harbor, which undertook significant roles in the near past too as it did in history, lost its previous significance in time on the pretext of the topography behind it because sufficient improvements were not made on the highway which makes the connection with the hinterland and because the harbor was deprived of a railroad. The Ġnebolu Harbor is among the harbors whose construction lasted the longest. This harbor, which was begun to be constructed in 1982, was finished only in 2007. Thus, this harbor, which obtained modern facilities, has become a harbor which has an efficient capability of use due to its location in the Black Sea Region line extending from Samsun to Ġstanbul. In the Ġnebolu Harbor freights, import, export, transit and domestic trade are done. In this harbor, mainly pyrite and copper ore extracted in the Küre mining area and a variety of materials which are difficult to transport such as marble, granite paving stone, hard coal, fertilizer, diesel oil, wood and engineering vehicles are transported. Today the widening and regulation of Kastamonu-Ġnebolu highway have been begun which makes the connection with the hinterland behind the Ġnebolu Harbor. Also, the basic topographic obstacle Ilgaz Mountain is planned to be passed over through the Ilgaz Mountain Tunnel, which has come to the stage of construction. When this project is completed, the Ġnebolu Harbor will become a harbor which connects the Middle Anatolia Region and the capital of our country, Turkey to the Black Sea Region and thus to international trade routes, and it will make significant contributions to the economy of our country.
