Abstract :
It is an undeniable fact that the colonial struggles for Africa caused the occurrence of the extraordinary geographical fragments. It can be expressed that African state boundaries had not reflected natural political, social and economic divisions of the local entites; on the contrary these arbitrary and conventional boundaries had been imposed by the colonial powers in accordance with the decisions of these powers. So, it is asserted that there is a cause-effect relation between a state’s borders’ oddity and arbitrary agreement constituted by colonial powers. In this context, the effect of the colonial powers on the shaping boundaries was examined with the regard of geographical fragments in this study, considering the historical data it was intended to put forward the causality between African colonial struggles and the extaordinary geographical fragments and as a result, it was arrived to conclusion that there was a connection between a state’s borders’ oddity and arbitrary agreement constituted by colonial powers.
