Abstract :
The article illustrates about the synthesis of Mn(II)-Morin complex in methanol solvent. Thecharacterization of the complex was carried out using UV-visible, IR,1H NMR spectroscopictechniques and thermal (i.e.TGA, DSC) techniques. The complex formation was deduced by UV-visible spectra showing the successive Mn-Morin complex formation occurring at 1:1(metal/ligand) ratio stoichiometrically. The antioxidant capacity of the complex has also beenevaluated using1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging method. The workdescribes that flavonoids complexed with metal ions are more free radical scavengers than the freemolecules.
