Abstract :
Language games is said to be one of the pedagogical strategies that can be used to improve the performance of students in the language learning. However, the learning method was used as an informal activity to fill spare time or as ancillary activities. The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of language games in improving vocabulary mastery in essay writing. Language game called Let s Find Glossary was used during the teaching and learning of Malay Language. A total of 60 students have attended 10 sessions of language play activities for 5 to 8 minutes. Analyses of script writing and interviews have been conducted to see the effectiveness of this language game. The findings of this study showed that vocabulary proficiency in language writing is better than before the game language is conducted. Students also showed their interest and willingness to follow the Malay Language lesson.
