  • Abstract
    The use of literary substance has long been incorporated in the curriculum of Malay Language education. Consequently, research about usage of literary style in teaching of Malay Language in Selangor specifically in Puchong zone in secondary level was performed. The purpose is to see how far the usage of literary style in teaching Malay Language, the teacher’s perception in using literary style in teaching Malay Language as well as understanding the problems faced. The research study was conducted on 118 secondary level teachers who are teaching Malay Language subjects in Puchong zone. Data was collected from the questionaires distributed to all Malay Language secondary level teachers. This was analyses by using the SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) program. Descriptive statistics was done to obtain the percentage, mean and standard deviation. In addition, the data was presented in tables and charts. Results from the research study has proven that a majority of the respondents showed a positive approach towards the usage of literary style and majority of them also applied in teaching Malay Language. However, there’s a small population of respondents experiencing difficulties in using literary style in their teaching.
