Abstract :
In this study, Child Behavior Evaluation Scale was developed; thus, validity and reliability of the scale was examined. Data was gathered from 20 teachers of 243 children, who were studying at pre-school education institutions of Kastamonu provincial centre and Daday, Devrekâni, Seydiler and Taşköprü districts, in 2005 and 2006. Experts’ views were taken as the point of departure in developing Child Behavior Evaluation Scale; hence, items in the scale were determined accordingly. The scale was developed according to validity and reliability tests of the items that were done following the application. In accordance with the explanatory factor analysis, 73 items were grouped under three factors (disobedient behaviors, adjustment, and social anxiety). Cronbach Alfa coefficient and Spearman Brown split half reliability coefficients were used for determining the consistency of the scale. Former yielded .95 and latter .82. The item analysis indicated that all correlations were significant at .001 level. Results showed that the scale is valid and reliable for application in Turkey.
