Abstract :
The purpose of the research study was to determine and analyze the metaphors of thesecondary school students regarding the concept of the Internet. The research study wascarried out with 251 secondary school students in Çumra, Konya and Karaman. The datawere gathered through a form which included the phrase “The Internet is similar to/sameas………….. .because ………………………” developed by the researchers. The qualitativedata collection methods and phenomenon science design were used. For the data analysis the content analysis technique was used. After the data analysis, it was observed that thestudents generated 90 metaphors. These metaphors were grouped into 8 different categories. Itwas found out that for the secondary school students who were between the age of 15-18, theInternet is mostly an information source but a communication tool at least.
