EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION: EXPLAINING AND UNDERSTANDING

Effective communication includes skills as problem solving, conflict management and theexplaining (expressing) and understanding, which is one of the teacher competencies. It isoffered as a course since the alteration of the curriculum in 2006 of pedagogical faculties.In this article it will be focussed on explaining and understanding as the scope of effectivecommunication skills. It will be examined what communication is, which skills are needed for an effective communication, and which skills are needed for explaining and understanding.Thus, what is due to the sender; is an analysis adequate to understand the meaning of thewords or of the sentence as in the spoken message; is it possible to understand the feelings andthoughts that cannot be expressed with words; it sought answers to questions such as what islike the importance of the ability to perception and to empathize with someone to understandhim. For this, Literature search was conducted and described.This paper is arguing, that having knowledge of effective communication doesn’t meanhaving acquired skills of effective communication. Therefore it focuses on various forms ofexercises in order to build a bridge between knowledge and skills. As the material for thepractise and exercises it is chosen the poem from Orhan Veli ‘I can not explain’. The poemwill be analyzed for content analysis and discourse analysis. There are presented exampleson exercises to explaining and to understanding. With these examples it is aimed to underliethe skills of perception, of feeling empathy with someone else; to tell a subject, to understandsomeone or something etc. It tries to present a didactic model for the acquisition of these skills.
