Abstract :
When examined historically, it has been continually required that the activities in alleducation areas should be formed more emprically in all society forms. This requirement alsoindicates that the activities aiming to discover and improve the the talents of the individualsshould be done emprically in the areas based on arts education.Being one of the important branches of phonetic arts education, music education hasmusical instrument education that is one of the important dimensions of it. Playing musicalinstrument is the coordination of physico motor, cognitive and sensory behaviours. Planed andscheduled teaching process is required to play a musical instrument thoroughly.Our study aims to find out, to what extend “individual musical instrument course” reachesits overall aims in the program of the department of music education in education faculty, oneof the institutions providing vacational music education.This is a descriptive study which describes the existing situation. The participants of theresearch consist of 124 students in 3th and 4th year who study at Education faculties, Musiceducation departments of Pamukkale Unversity, Adnan Menderes University and MuğlaUniversity in 2011-2012. The data is collected by using a scale which is prepared by thereseracher. The Cronbah Alpha reliability co-efficient of the scale is 0.89. the results of thestudy reveals that ‘ individual musical instrument’ course has reached its aims at a high level.
