  • Abstract
    The purpose of this study is to determine 5th and 7th grades primary students’ strategiesof polygons classification. In this research the study of sample problem is identified as a casestudy research. Interview forms and worksheet developed by researcher are used as a datacollection method. The participants of this study are consist of 50 volunteer 5th and 7th gradesstudents who are selected from a school that is in central province of İzmir by maximumvariation sampling. When the answers are examined it is determined that 5th and 7th gradesstudents use 10 strategies while classifying polygons. These; taking the images into account,comparison properties, random, image of polygon, the position of polygons, side properties,angle properties, relations between polygons and based on the information learned, classifyeach polygon independently of each others are grouped.
