  • Abstract
    The aim of the study is to carry out the validity and reliability study of the “Control List forthe Evaluation of the Writing Readiness Skills of Pre-school Children”. For the content validityof the control list which was formed by reviewing the relevant literature, expert opinions werereferenced. For the reliability of the control list, test-retest reliability and the consistencyamong independent graders were taken into consideration. For test-retest reliability, 36 kindergarten children were tested twice with a gap of 15 days and the correlation between twomeasurements was taken into consideration. The correlation between two measurements (.90)was found substantially high. To measure the consistency among the independent graders, 7experts evaluated the writing readiness skills of the 55 kindergarten children using thecontrollist. The measurements of the independent graders were examined separately for each item.When the reliability co-efficient among the graderswere generally analyzed, it was observedthat the minimum correlation among experts was 0.32; and the maximum correlation was 1.00.Depending on these findings, it was revealed that the “Control List for the Evaluation of theWriting Readiness Skills of Pre-school Children” has been a useful measurement tool andmight be used in order to evaluate the writing readiness skills of the pre-school children.
