Abstract
The purpose of this study is to propose and test a model that includes attitude, interest andacademic self-concept in order to determine affective entry characteristics for a particularcourse. The study was carried out with 186 freshmen studying at the Faculty of Education.At the beginning of the research process, the observed variables were written to measureinterest, attitude and academic self-concept towards the introduction to educational sciencescourse. Secondly, the dimensions of observed variables were determined. Thirdly, the observedvariables (items) which formed the unobserved variables (interest, attitude, self-concept) wereselected. Lastly, a model was proposed and tested by confirmatory factor analysis. The findingsindicated that such a model is also applicable in determining affective entry characteristics fora different course.
