Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to compare some aspects of primary teacher education system in The Netherlands, Romania and Turkey, and find the similarities and differences in primary teacher training institutions of these countries: admission criteria, the process of education, school experience and teaching practice, taken lectures throughout all program, graduation requirements and criteria for become a teacher. This study is aimed to reveal teacher training system’s proficiency and deficiency in Turkey. Horizontal approach, which is one of the methods used in comparative research, is used in this research. Even though these countries have some similarities about teacher education system, each country’s teacher education system take form their own culture, social, political, economic conditions. So ever these countries affect each other, there are some differences in their teacher education system. Institute admission criteria, the process of education, school experience and teaching practice, taken lecture throughout all program, graduation requirements and criteria for become a teacher are different from country to country. Some suggestions about primary teacher education system in Turkey have been offered based on the results of the study.
