  • Abstract
    The aim of this study was to examine the beliefs of college students about instructors through the metaphors they developed. The study was carried out with qualitative research methods. For the purpose of this study 198 pieces of different metaphors were obtained through the forms with open-ended questions applied 170 male and 150 female students specify according to purposal sampling method from among the students enrolled in the academic year of 2010-2011 at İnönü University. Data applied content analysis was divided into two categories “positive” and “negative” and then grouped into seven themes. The important findings of study are that most of the university students have generated more negative metaphors than the positive ones about the lecturers, the theme of “a lecturer as an authority person” has been the mostly observed metaphor theme and the university students have mainly mentioned the features of orienting, leading and guiding by the lecturers of their positive aspects.
