Abstract :
The aim of this study is to determine the effect of a differentiation approach newly developed based on mathematics education on creative thinking abilities of both gifted and nongifted students. Pre test-post test with control group model was used in the study. The sample of the study consists of totally 68 gifted and 144 non gifted students who are at 5-6 and 7th grade in two state and a private school located in Ataşehir, Maltepe and Çekmeköy districts of Istanbul. “Mathematics achievement test”, Torrance test”, “ How creative are you?” and “Multiple intelligence test” were used as data gathering tools. It was concluded that the differentiation approach developed is effective on improving the creative thinking skills of the students.
