Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the effects of problem based learning approach to overcome students’ misconceptions on physical and chemical change. Simple experimental research design with pre- and post-test was used in the study. The sample of this study was formed by 12 students who are at the secondary school in the center of Giresun during the 2013-2014 academic year. As a data collections two stage Physical and Chemical Changing Concept tests (PCCT) and about concepts semi-structured interwiev were used. In the analyse of quantitive data SPSS programme was used; in the analyse of qualitative data context analyse method was used. At the end of research, it was concluded that; problem based learning approach helped the students to achieve their conceptual change together with removing their misconceptions on physical and chemical change. According to research some advice were given.
