Abstract :
The aim of this study is to reveal the level of socialisation skills of 6th – 8th grade school children who stay in orphanages. The research was carried out in 6 different orphanages in 4 provinces in inner Anatolia. The data were obtained with mixed method from qualitative and quantitative research methods at the same time. The quantitative data were gathered from 104 students by Socialisation Skills Scale (SSS) which was developed by the researchers, and was tested its validity and reliability. In the research, a significant difference was found between the gender and the socialisation skills. Otherwise it was seen that there were no significant relation between total points and age, duration of residence in the orphanage, status of parents’ being alive and number of brothers/sisters variables.
