  • Abstract
This study is aimed at identifying the impact of performance tasks on responsibility assigned to 5th grade students attending Social Sciences course. The current study applied a “mixed approach” integrating both qualitative and quantitative methods. The experimental group consisted of 21 students, while the control group included 20 participants. The qualitative data of the research were obtained through responsibility scale while the quantitative data were gathered through attitudes and perceptions form. Quantitative data were analyzed through t test, whereas qualitative ones, descriptive analysis method used, were analyzed through the content analysis of the data. Analysis of quantitative data suggested that there is a significant difference in favor of experimental group [t(53)=6.744, p .05]. The results also revealed that the students in experimental group, throughout their “responsibility” performance tasks, they have demonstrated positive attitudes and behaviors about their responsibilities in their families, schools and society and that they will continue to do so in the aftermath of their performance tasks. The findings were discussed in line with the existing literature and suggestions were made for further research.
