Abstract :
This paper aims at determining the value tendencies of students enrolled to social work undergraduate programs. Data was collected from 318 first year social work students from seven different universities across Turkey using “Schwarz Personal Values Scale” combined with a personal information form for basic socio-demographical information. The impact of some factors such as gender, the place of longest residence, level of income, educational level of the parents, type of high school attended and reasons for choosing undergraduate program in social work on the value tendencies was analyzed using t-test, one way ANOVA and LSD tests. The results reveal that there is a significant and meaningful relationship between value types and gender, income level, educational level of the parents, type high school attended, the place of longest residence and reasons for choosing undergraduate program in social work
