Abstract :
The aim of this study is to define and determine pre-service chemistry teachers’ views and reflections regarding their micro-teaching experience and overall atmosphere of the Methods Course II (Special Teaching Methods II) (MCII). The study was designed in accord with phenomenographical approach which is qualitative in nature as we examine the participants’ views and ideas about their own experiences. The study was conducted with 24 pre-service chemistry teachers. The pre-service chemistry teachers’ views about their teaching and the MCII were examined via a questionnaire which consists of 10 open-ended questions. The participants’ responses to the questionnaire were subjected to content analysis. One of the most emphasized issues regarding the pre-service chemistry teachers’ experiences is anxiety and nervousness. When the pre-service chemistry teachers’ views about the method of MCII are examined, the participants most frequently expressed that the microteaching method helped them evaluate themselves in many aspects associated with teaching.
