Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to determine burnout levels of physical education (PE) teachers, who work at primary schools in Ankara, and to compare teachers’ burnout levels regarding gender, marital status, working experience, and workload. The study was included 127 physical education teachers. Maslach Burnout Inventory (Maslach Jackson 1981) was used to gather data. Descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA were used for data analyses. The results showed that physical education teachers were at low level in emotional exhaustion and depersonalization subtests whereas at high level in personal accomplishment subtest. As we compared total scores regarding gender, marital status and workload there were no significant differences among teachers’ burnout levels in subtests. However, there was a significant difference in depersonalization subtest regarding working experience.
