Preschool Education Support: Bolu Example

A sufficient early childhood education and compulsory education is seen as prerequisite for sustainable national development and constitution of sustainable competitive capacity. Based on this idea, a non-profit organization Bolu Bağışçılar Foundation initiated Preschool Education Support Project in partnership with the Abant Izzet Baysal University and Ministry of Education on 17th of January 2010. Within this project which aims to popularize and gear up pre-school education in Bolu, Abant Izzet Baysal University Preschool Applications and Research Center was established. Abant Izzet Baysal University Preschool Applications and Research Center aims to share its expertise support and new information and experience that obtained from conducted research with; • undergraduate and graduate students in the pre-school education field • Pre-school education teachers and administrators, • Pre-school aged children in Bolu and their families, •And with all the adults who need support in pre-school education in Bolu. In accordance with this purposes, Bağışçılar Foundation Daycare and Pre-school Center that established within the Center aims to serve 0-36 /36-72 months aged children. Bolu Bağışçılar Foundation Daycare and Pre-school Center was built on the total of 2840 square meter area which consist of 1540 square meters of confined space (For pre-school 935 and for the daycare 605) and 1300 square meters of open area. With construction and equipment cost of 1.503.902.46 Turkish Liras, Bolu Bağışçılar Foundation Daycare and Pre-school Center it constitutes an important model since it gathers 0-36/36-72 months old children together. In our country Preschool Education Support Project leads partnership of private sector, non-profit foundation, university and Ministry of Education. In this study our aim was to determine local and national effects of all the conducted studies within the project on the pre-school education. Also, in accordance with this main purpose, the project aimed to set an example for similar alliances in different regions.
