Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to determine pre-school teacher candidates’ levels of anxiety regarding their future careers in teaching. The sample consists of 172 pre-school teacher candidates studying the Pre-School Education programme at Kastamonu University Faculty of Education. For data collection to find out the anxiety levels of students “Teacher Candidate’s Anxiety Scale” and “Personal Information Form” were used. Teacher Candidate’s Anxiety Scale is composed of 45 items. Results show that pre-school teacher candidates’ anxiety levels regarding their teaching career can be described as “very low”. There are also statistically significant differences in anxiety levels when examined according to different variables such as teacher candidates’ school year, perceived readiness for the occupation teaching, perceived success and the rank of the Pre-school Education programme in their university preference list.
