Abstract :
The current study aims at determining which occupations pre-school children want to be in the future and why they choose these occupations. Case study research design was used in this qualitative study. The sample of the study consist of 21 volunteer children attending to 6 age groups in kindergartens of Gazi University Pediatric Development Applied Research and Training Center in the fall semester, 2015-2016 academic year. Data were collected by using drawing and interview techniques. Categories were obtained from the drawings and interviews. When the reason why children chose these occupations was examined, reasons were formed in categories such as having a strong liking for these occupations, personal values, taking parents as a model, curiosity, and their parents’ wish for these occupations.
