Abstract :
With the change in the Dersaadet-Belgrade line project, first one of the telegraph lines planned to be established in Rumelia by the Ottoman State as of 1854, the line was connected from Edirne to Shumen and the previously planned Edirne-Belgrade line had not been constructed. It was demanded by both of the states that the Ottoman-Serbia lines, having failed to be connected due to this reason, be established promptly and that Ottoman wire be connected to Serbia and then to Austrian wires. Upon the offer of Serbia to lend loan to the Ottoman State, claiming to have financial difficulties, the Edirne-Aleksinac line was established and the connection was maintained in 1857 by means of the resource provided by Serbia. The Vidin-Negotin line, established in 1858, proved the second line between the two administrations. By virtue of these lines, Serbia took part in a number of interstate agreements on telegraph lines. Whereas the construction of mentioned lines proved beneficial for both of the parties, importance of the Serbian Amirate gradually increased in the Rumelia region, particularly in the telegraph lines located in the Rumelia region within historical process
