Abstract :
Mathematical model for an industrial acetylene hydrogenation plant was developed and then usedfor control purposes. The developed model covers all individual units of the plant such as reactor,cooler, steam heater etc. The key reaction of the plant was modeled by a second order transferfunction plus dead time, while the heating and cooling units are modeled by first order transferfunction. A conventional PID controllers were applied to control the plant units, an acceptableresults were obtained.
