Abstract :
The study of heat and mass transfer by free convection steady flow of a visco-elastic fluid past avertical permeable plate under the action of transverse magnetic field has been investigated. Thesuction at the plate is assumed to be constant. The perturbation technique has been used to solvethe governing equations of motion. The velocity field and the shearing stress at the plate are obtained for the heated plate (Gr 0) and cooled plate (Gr 0) and illustrated graphically to observe the visco-elastic effects in combination with other flow parameters. It is noticed that thetemperature field and the rate of heat transfer are not significantly affected by the visco-elasticparameter. 2000 AMS Mathematics Subject Classification 76A05, 76A10.
