THE IMPACT OF DIGITAL ARCHITECTURE ON FREEHAND SKETCHES THROUGH DESIGN PROCESS

Since the emergence of computer and its different applications to architecture fields and thedesign process specifically, it made a clear impact on changing the ways of expressing architectural ideas of the architectural designer - student or architect - and utilizing the new design tools. This paper introduces a view on the role of freehand sketches versus computer applications in design process and analysis of pioneering architects works, searching for the most appropriate method, which represents the use of all methods features and incorporates it through the design stages so as to the utilization of freehand sketches or computer applications and can be use in the appropriate stage of each one and in a manner that can serving the design process. This paper recommended that the architects, architectural educators and students have recently merged the two methods to take advantage of all features, avoid the disadvantages, use of sketches or digital in the appropriate stage of the design process and find the balance and integration between them to presents the good design.
