Abstract :
The aim of this study was to obtain morphometric data to find out the homotypic variations of right and left long bones of forelimb and hindlimb in mature laboratory animals considering the sex variations, and a data source which will enable to study the correlation between these data and live weight values. For this live weights osteometric values of long bones (humerus, antebrachium, femur, tibia, fibula) of forelimb and hindlimb of 15 male and 15 female laboratory animals are measured. As a result, it can be stated that the right and left morphometric values of forelimb and hindlimb of the laboratory animals are very close and they don’t reveal homotypic variations statistically, however it is also concluded that sex variation is an important factor. The results obtained from researches on the guinea pigs as labarotory animals can used as a model for other studies on sex variations of the the different species and it can be stated that, such symmetric bones can be used to form a control environment.
