SAADET HANIM

Saadet Hanım was born in Kazan on 28th of July, 1907. According to her memoirs, she spent her childhood in the village house of her grandfather. She met her father Ayaz İshakî in 1913. One of the virtues of Saadet Hanım, which was confirmed by her close friends and people who has the chance of meeting her, was her modesty. She always prefered to be known as “The daughter of Ayaz – Daughter of İshakî Ayaz.” Never inroduced herself as the wife of Tahir Çağatay or with her title: Professor Saadet Çağatay.
