Abstract
The relations between Turkish and Sogdian / Iranian languages began very early. Both languages influenced each other from various linguistic aspects. While some of Sogdian words copied into Turkish, because of the belief system, have been only partially effective during the Old and Middle Turkish, some of them have been used to the present day. Specific phonemes and the specific phonological rules in Sogdian affected the phonological and morphological structure of Sogdian copied words into Turkish and caused sound structure of Sogdian words to change. In most cases, phonemes specific for Sogdian (especially consonants) realised as a nearest sound in Turkish.
