Abstract :
Class III malocclusion and camuflage treatment of 3 patients with severe Class III malocclusion and concave facial profile were evaluated in this case report. Patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion were treated in 2 phases of the permanent dentition. In phase 1, maxillary protraction was combined with rapid palatal expansion; in phase 2, fixed appliances were used. At the end of the orthodontic treatment, bilateral canine-molar protected occlusion with adequate anterior guidance was established and normal overjet and overbite. A combination of maxillary protraction and rapid maxillary expansion is an efficient treatment alternative for camuflage in moderate Class III patients in order to obtain good occlusal relationships. In our cases, we achieved a favorable treatment result with the face-mask appliance and fixed appliance treatment.
