Abstract :
Odontomas are the most common type of odontogenic tumors, considered to be developmental anomalies resulting from the growth of differentiated epithelial and mesenchymal cells. WHO classifies odontomas into: compound and complex. The compound odontoma is a malformation in which all the dental tissues are in a more orderly pattern than in the complex odontoma so that the lesion consists of many tooth-like structures. Radiographically they show calcified structures resembling teeth in the center of a well-defined radiolucent lesion. Although radiographic aspects are characteristic, cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) complements the conventional radiograph by displaying details of the internal structure that cannot be clearly seen in conventional radiograph. In this case the excision of a compound odontoma associated with unerupted maxillary primary canine after evaluating CBCT was reported.
