Abstract :
The introduction of cone beam computed tomography(CBCT) devices, changed the way oral and maxillofacialradiology is practiced. CBCT was embraced into the dentalsettings very rapidly due to its compact size, low cost, lowionizing radiation exposure when compared to medicalcomputed tomography. Alike medical CT, 3 dimensionalevaluation of the maxillofacial region with minimaldistortion is offered by the CBCT. This article providesan overview of basics of CBCT technology and reviewsthe specific application of CBCT technology to oral andmaxillofacial region with few illustrations.
