Abstract :
Amild and efficient way for the synthesis of3-phenylquinoline-2-ol derivatives viachemo-selective reaction of substituted O-nitrobenzaldehydeand ethyl-2-phenylacetate catalyzed by Fe/HCl is described. The new procedure has the advantages of mild reaction conditions, high yieldsandone-pot manner with easy purification,and further characterised by NMR, FT-IR and HRMS spectral data.
