Abstract :
Aim: The study was conducted to determine the knowledge and attitudes of mothers with children between 0-6 years old about on antipyretic drug usage.Method: This descriptive research’s sample consisted of 156 mothers with children between the 0-6 ages and applied to GMMF Outpatients of Child Health and Diseases with Pediatric Surgery between February-March 2014. Data were attained by using form inculding 20 questions about antipyretic drug usage. SPSS for Windows 15.0 software was used for evaluating of data. Chi-square were used for statistical comparison and p 0.05 was accepted for statistical significance.Results: The average age of mothers is 34±6.5. 66.7% of mothers have more than 11 years educational level . 92.3% ofmothers uses thermometers and 88.5% of whom uses antipyretic drugs without a physician’s prescription. 83.3% of antipyretic usage was parasetamol, 59% of which was ibuprofen. There are statistically significant differences between educational level of mothers being upper 11 years and knowledge status of the adverse effects of antipyretic drug (p=0.000).Conclusion: In study, it was found that mothers with children in the 0-6 age have a lack of information about antipyretic drug usage.
